Together, we seek the establishment of Synthetic Biology at the level of the University of Calgary as well as provincially through the interaction of students from all different backgrounds using the international Genetically Engineered Machines (iGEM) competition as a platform. Additionally, a cornerstone of the iGEM experience at the U of C is to promote the growth of individuals through interdisciplinary inquiry and mentorship based approaches.

A New Day Dawns!

After several weeks of organization, preparation and countless e-mails, the 2009 iGEM team has been selected! We have selected a very diverse team including Health Science, Engineering, Science and Kinesiology students from an enormous pool of applicants! The process was grueling and a lot of blood, sweat and tears were shed, but we are all extremely excited to move forward into the iGEM pre-season! In the upcoming week, the team members will meet each other for the first time and have a chance to get to know one another. Please stay tuned for updates on this exciting endeavor!
