What is a NAICS code? How is it like an SIC code? |
|||
A NAICS code, or North American Industry Classification System, is simply a numerical code that represents a particular industry. The numbers in the NAICS code do not correspond to a value; they are a code given to the industry by North American governments for naming purposes. NAICS codes help governments, databases, and suppliers collect statistics about companies and classify these statistics into different Industries. The first two digits of a NAICS code describe the broadest industrial classification, and with each digit, the industrial area becomes more specific. NAICS/SIC Concordances
