Finding Periodical Articles on WestlaweCARSWELL

WestlaweCARSWELL provides online access to over 700 law reviews and journals. Most are US publications, but there are some Canadian and International titles. Date coverage varies by publication. WestlaweCARSWELL is available to University of Calgary students, staff and faculty only.

Accessing WestlaweCARSWELL Journal Databases:

1. Go to WestlaweCARSWELL (Law Students/Faculty) or WestlaweCARSWELL (Other U of C).
2. To search articles in LawSource (contains select Canadian articles only), select "Law Reports, Articles and Journals" under "Custom Search Templates".
3. To search articles in Westlaw (contains over 700 law reviews and journals, mostly US, but some Canadian and International), select the "Legal Periodicals" tab.
4. Alternatively, select the "Database Directory", then select "All Databases" [left side of screen] and choose from the menu options listed.

  • Go to database hvlr
  • Terms & connectors query:
    nihilism /s pragmatic & da(1986)
  • or: Field query (click on "Fields for Template"):
    au(stick) & ti(nihilism) & da(1986); click "Add to Search"

• From the main LawSource page, click on "Find" (middle of screen, under "Find/KeyCite a Document")
• Enter article citation in the "or, any document by citation" box

• From the cite list on the left, select documents to be delivered by clicking the checkbox beside the cite.
• Select "Print Doc" from the bottom of the screen and follow the instructions to print, download or email.
• or maximize the full document using the icon on the top right and use your browser print (Print Frame) and download (Save Frame As) functions.
